Customized Training Opportunities
The New York State Library offers free customized classes for New York State Agency and Legislative staff, utilizing the resources available from the Library. State Library staff will develop and present a class that's designed to meet your unique information needs from a wide variety of resources - online databases, e-journals, books, directories, newspapers, and government documents, to mention but a few. Whether you need cutting edge information or background information on a specific topic, we can show you how to find and effectively use the resources and services available from the Library that can meet your information needs.
Your customized class can be held here in our state-of-the-art computer classroom (7th floor, Cultural Education Center), which offers an opportunity for hands-on training. Or, we are ready to come to your facility to conduct the class if your facility is located within two hours of the Albany area.

Library Catalog Records Upgraded
The Library's Technical Services staff recently upgraded over 220,000 brief catalog records to full MARC records in the Library's Catalog Excelsior. These records now include more complete bibliographic information, making them more valuable to researchers everywhere. The record upgrades are a first step toward further work that will be done on these records to improve their usability.
