Program Overview

Transforming Teen Services: a Train the Trainer Approach (T3) is an initiative run by Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) and the Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA) and is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS).

Timeline

  • T3 will be effective from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021
  • In the first year of the project, a pilot cohort from the State Library Agency (SLA) and staff from AL, ME, MN, RI, and WI received training and began facilitating training for library staff in their states
  • In year two, a second cohort of 109 more SLA and front-line staff will be trained and they will then train others in their states

Shauntee Burns leading the February 12 T3 session.

On February 12, 2020, a Transforming Teen Services training session was offered to a number of Youth Services staff from New York Public Library. Shauntee Burns, one of the expert T3 trainers for New York State and Manager of School Support and Outreach for NYPL, presented an overview of T3 training, and connected learning and computational thinking.

Participants had a chance to work in small groups, do interactive activities, and talk about teen developmental stages and learning styles. More T3 trainings are being planned for various regions of New York State, so stay tuned for details coming soon!
