State Library Temporarily Closed

In response to public health concerns related to COVID-19, the New York State Library is temporarily closed.

Online Journals, Newspapers, and Reference Resources: A reminder to those who are studying or working from home, the NOVELNY are freely available to all New Yorkers and provide access to newspaper and journal articles and reference resources, including Encyclopedia Britannica and resources for K-12. You can access the databases for free via the NYS Library website, as well as from the sites of many public, school and college libraries.

Research Library

Reference questions are being answered via email:  REFSERV@nysed.gov.

Many items, including State documents and some historical materials, are available online via our Digital Collections.

Borrowed Materials: The Library will be waiving late fees and extending materials' due dates during the time we are closed.

Division of Library Development

Most of the Library Development staff are able to work from home and your Regional Liaison is available to you via email.  LD Staff email addresses are posted on the LD website under About Us.

Reach out to your Regional Liaison or the appropriate Program Manager by email if you have questions. As always, LD Staff will try their best to respond promptly to your questions.

Talking Book and Braille Library

The Talking Book and Braille Library is temporarily closed. If you have questions for our library staff, please email tbbl@nysed.gov

Registered TBBL borrowers may download books and magazines through the downloading service, BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download). If you need help using BARD, please email our library staff.
